Jones was drafted by the Houston Texans in 2007 and signed with the Ravens in 2012. He made the Pro Bowl after his first season in Baltimore and helped the team win Super Bowl XLVII, in which he set the record for longest kick return in Super Bowl history (108 yards).

After retiring as a player in 2017, Jones turned to coaching. He spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons as wide receivers coach at Lane College, his alma mater, and he has served as wide receivers coach at Calvert Hall College High School since October.

Jones is the latest in a string of Black former NFL players who have joined HBCU coaching ranks, including Deion Sanders (Jackson State) and Eddie George (Tennessee State).
